Metz was founded in Melbourne on the 25th of June 1953 and has since that time been a manufacturer of specialist building materials. Our core products in 1953 were Acid Proofing and Abrasion resistant materials and whilst the technologies used have changed remarkably since that time the focus of our business today still remains in providing our clients with materials to resist the effects of chemicals and long term wear.

Metz today remains a proudly Australian company headquartered in Sydney. Our Quality Accredited manufacturing facility is located in Melbourne and we also have a branch in Brisbane. In Western Australia Metz has appointed a distributor who can best provide support to key industrial sectors.

From these three offices Metz operates across Australia so that Metz can offer a unique manufacture, supply and install service for almost all of our products. This means that in the highly demanding environments requiring Metz materials a single point of responsibility meaningful warranty is possible for our clients.

For more than 20 years Metz has operated in Asia and the South Pacific. Metz now has distributors in many Asian countries as well as a distributor in Saudi Arabia covering the GCC States.

Metz has always been particularly active in providing floors for food production areas where corrosion resistance is important because almost all foodstuffs are acidic and therefore attack concrete.

In food plants and commercial kitchens hygiene is another critical issue. Concrete being highly porous is not able to be maintained hygienically.

Slip Resistance for food areas is a major problem because of the presence of waters, fats, oils and other containments which combine to produce dangerous slippery conditions if inappropriate flooring materials are chosen. Slip resistance is also paramount for ceramic tiles used in the linings and surrounds for swimming pools. Metz has been supplying and installing ceramic tile linings to major swimming pools for more than 30 years. This long experience in the provision of safe, slip resistant flooring in such slippery environments as oily kitchens and wet pool areas led Metz to expand our product range into slip resistant ceramic tiles for the general commercial tiling sector.
